how many books have i read this year?

June 2016 – May 2017

*Also, for the year of 2016 (Jan-Dec), I made a deal with myself to not read anything by white men, with exceptions for book club readings (although I felt weird about that, and stopped participating in the book clubs I was in), and for the second Shades of Grey book if Jasper Fforde *actually* published it, which he did not. DAMN, but I have been waiting for that fucking book and he needs to hurry up and put it out.

The Rib from which I Remake the World, Ed Kurtz (Dirge book club – pretty good, too)
Dust Bath Revival, Marianne Kirby (FUCKING AWESOME, READ IT)
We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Shirley Jackson (Dirge book club; also, Jackson is amazing)
Maisie Dobbs, Jacqueline Winspear
Zombie, Joyce Carol Oates (I did not know what this was about going into it – spoilers: it’s NOT a zombie novel – and it was super disturbing to me)
Salt, Nayyirah Waheed (achingly lovely)
Nejma, Nayyirah Waheed (same)
A Man Lay Dead, Ngaio Marsh
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Anne Rice
Blood Child and Other Stories, Octavia Butler (FUCKING INCREDIBLE, DUH)
A Head Full of Ghosts, Paul Tremblay (Dirge book club)
Fire Touched, Patricia Briggs
A Cold Day for Murder, Dana Stabenow
Hex, Thomas Olde Heuvelt (Dirge book club)
The Ballad of Black Tom, Victor Lavalle (AMAZING, READ IT)
Shadow and Bone, Leigh Bardugo
Outcast, v.1-3, Kirkman & Azaceta

audiobooks:
-the 10th anniversary, full-cast recording of American Gods, Neil Gaiman
